Soot left behind from a fire
Soot left behind from a fire made this light look yellow and old. But on the right it's been brought back to life and to look brand new from our SERVPRO content department.
What is soot?
Soot isa mass of impure carbon particles resulting from the incomplete combustion of hydrocarbons. It ismore properly restricted to the product of the gas-phase combustion process but iscommonly extended to include the residual pyrolysed fuel particles such as coal, cenospheres, charred wood, and petroleum coke that may become airborne during pyrolysis and that are more properly identified as cokes or char. Sootcauses various types of cancer and lung disease.
